Deliberately lit fires – Bridgewater, Herdsmans Cove and Gagebrook

Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service responded to multiple deliberately lit grass fires in the Bridgewater, Herdsmans Cove and Gagebrook areas yesterday afternoon.

A 16-year-old was arrested and charged with deliberately lighting a fire that burnt about 1 hectare of grass, and some fences, at Lamprill Circle and Holloway Drive. He will appear in the Hobart Youth Justice court at a later date.

Police are continuing to investigate the other fires that are believed to have been deliberately lit.
