Fatal Crash, Legana ~ Wotts Up Tasmania

Fatal Crash, Legana

At approximately 7:15pm on Thursday the 5th of May 2022, members from Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Fire Service and the State Emergency Service attended a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Tamar Highway and Bridgenorth Road, Legana.

At the time of the crash, a maroon Holden sedan has turned right from Bridgenorth Road onto the West Tamar Highway. As the vehicle turned it has collided with a silver Mazda hatch that was travelling north.

As a result of the crash, the sole male occupant of the Holden sedan and front seat passenger of the Mazda hatch were required to be extricated from their vehicles and were taken to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sadly, in the early hours of Saturday the 7th of May 2022, the 80 year old male driver of the Holden sedan passed away at the Launceston General Hospital.

Tasmania Police are investigating the cause of the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man.
