Information sought in regards to dangerous driving, Bass Highway

Police are seeking information regarding a dangerous driving incident which occurred on the Bass Highway, Monday 1 May around 3pm.

Police and emergency services were on scene attending a serious vehicle crash on the Bass Highway, in the Western lane, between Formby Road and Middle Road, Devonport at this time.
The vehicle in question is a silver holden commodore sedan with a Queensland registration plate of 1GID-076 and it was observed that there were two occupants present in the car. A photo of the vehicle in question has been attached for reference.

The driver of the vehicle was observed driving in a dangerous manner through heavy traffic, and has hit a stationery police car which was displaying emergency red and blue flashing lights which was on scene at the crash site.

“The driver of this vehicle has put the lives of all the emergency service workers who were in attendance at the scene of this crash in danger” said Inspector John King.

“We remind people to be aware of their surroundings, and to take care when approaching a crash scene where emergency vehicles are clearly present”.

“Risking the lives of others through irresponsible driving on our roads will not be tolerated”.

“Motorists are reminded to slow down when approaching emergency or roadside assist vehicles with flashing lights or sirens, it is a requirement for drivers to slow to 40 km/h, and if you are travelling at speeds over 80km/h to slow down as safely as possible”.
