Mazda sought as part of investigation to locate Launceston man Jake Anderson-Brettner

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a white 2006 Mazda 6 (registration FN2477)  as part of the investigation into the disappearance of 24-year-old Launceston man Jake Anderson-Brettner who has not been seen since Wednesday night.

“Police hold grave concerns for the welfare of Jake Anderson-Brettner and while we hope to find him alive and well at this stage of the investigation we can’t rule out that foul play may be involved,” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Fox.

“As part of our investigation to determine Jake’s whereabouts, we would like to speak to anyone in the Launceston area, particularly around Riverside, who knows the current location of a white 2006 Mazda 6, registration FN2477.”

“We’re also renewing our plea for anyone who saw Jake’s black 2011 Nissan Navara ute, a black 2015 Range Rover Evoque or black 2016 Jeep Cheroke in the Riverside or West Tamar areas between 6pm Wednesday and 4.30pm Thursday to come forward if they haven’t already.

“Police have these three black cars but their movements and the current location of the white Mazda may provide vital information in relation to Jake’s movements.”

Jake was last seen in Launceston around 6pm on Wednesday 15 August driving his black 2011 Nissan Navara ute, registration H89ND. His ute was located unattended in Balmoral Avenue, Riverside, around 4.30pm Thursday.

A 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Riverside remain in police custody.  Investigations suggest they can provide vital information in relation to Jake’s movements since he was last seen. At this stage no charges have been laid.

Anyone with information can ring Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au – Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous, callers don’t need to give their name or number just their information.
