Offences Detected During Multi Agency Operation in Hamilton

Today, a joint operation between Tasmania Police, the Parks and Wildlife Service and the Transport Safety and Investigation Unit was conducted in the town of Hamilton, 73 kilometres north west of Hobart.

Acting Inspector Phil Curtis from Bridgewater Police said,

“This is one of a number of operations police have conducted in rural areas with other agencies. These activities enable us to pool resources and to respond effectively to a range of offences committed within rural areas.”

As a result of the operation, a number of offences were detected including:

  • Two drivers driving while being disqualified from holding a licence.
  • Two drivers driving over the prescribed alcohol limit.
  • Three drivers driving with illicit drugs in their system.
  • Possessing insecure firearm ammunition.
  • Failing to properly affix a tag to a deer.
  • 35 vehicle defect notices were issued.

“Police will continue to patrol roads across rural Tasmania. Please slow down, wear your seatbelt, ensure you are properly licenced and don’t drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” Acting Inspector Curtis said.
