The pair, arrested and charged yesterday, were found in possession of:

  • 78 x individually packaged ‘street deals’ of methyl-amphetamine (ICE)
  • 5 grams of methyl-amphetamine (ICE), equivalent to a further 35 x street deals
  • Over $13,000 in cash; and
  • A small quantity of cannabis.

The pair was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 19 August 2019.

This follows the arrest of a 28 year old Bridgewater man twice in one week. On 12 July 2019 the man was found in possession of approximately 20 grams of cocaine with an approximate street value of $8,000. He was also in possession of $14,000 in cash. On Wednesday 17 July 2019 the man was again arrested when found in possession of a quantity of cocaine and approximately $10,000 in cash. He has been charged with drug offences and dealing in the proceeds of crime and is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 12 August 2019.

“Individuals who seek to profit from the sale of illicit substances in our community can expect police attention.  These arrests send a clear message that not only will we target syndicates responsible for the importation and distribution of drugs, we will also target those in the community who see drugs as a profitable ‘commodity’,” Detective Inspector Kate Chambers said.

“When you trade in illicit drugs you place people’s lives at risk for personal financial gain”.
