Three men charged following series of overnight burglaries
Three men from Launceston have been charged following a series of burglaries targeting brand new power tools overnight.
Acting Detective Inspector Andrew Hanson said police were called after a red Mazda ute was stolen from Prospect, and used in burglaries at Evandale and Invermay.
“The offenders allegedly drove the stolen ute through the front of one of the targeted premises in Invermay,” he said.
“Police arrested the three men in bushland near Mayfield about 5am, when the stolen car, which had been set alight, was located.”
“Police then executed a search warrant and recovered the stolen items in Rocherlea.”
“We are pleased to be able to return the property to its rightful owners, as thefts like this can have a significant impact on local businesses.”
The three men have been charged with several matters including motor vehicle stealing, burglaries, stealing and other offences.
Anyone with information regarding the burglaries, or other suspicious activity overnight, particularly involving a red Mazda ute, should contact Launceston CIB on 131 444 and quote OR721738.
