Traffic crash at Pelham Road, Pelham

A 73 year old woman has been rescued by a Tasmania Fire Service officer following a single vehicle crash at Pelham.

At about 10.20am today a representative of the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) who was transporting a fire appliance to Cambridge from Ouse noticed a silver Nissan vehicle that had left the road on Pelham Road at Pelham.

Upon investigating further, the TFS representative came across a woman who had left the road and collided with a tree.

Inspector Philippa Burk said that initial investigations indicate that the driver had swerved to avoid some wildlife and lost control of the vehicle and had been in the bush since about 4.30pm on Saturday.

“Police and emergency services were called to the scene and the female driver was conveyed to the RHH by ambulance in a stable condition.

“We would like to thank the TFS representative for their initial attendance and investigation.

“It is such a great outcome that the woman was found, especially considering the weather conditions over the last two days.

“We remind motorists that the best thing you can do to keep yourself, our furry friends, and other road users safe is to slow down at dusk and dawn”.
