Wounding – Commercial Hotel, George Street, Launceston

On the night of Saturday the 3rd of October 2020 a wounding was committed at the Commercial Hotel, George Street, Launceston.

As a male patron was being escorted from the hotel by security staff he smashed a glass into the side of another patron’s face. The victim was facing away from the offender at the time of the attack. The offender was then ejected from the hotel by security staff and was subsequently arrested by police outside the hotel.

The victim sustained numerous lacerations to his face and is to undergo surgery at the Launceston General Hospital.

It is believed that the victim and offender were not known to each other and that the assault was unprovoked.

The offender was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Sunday the 4th of October 2020.
