Youths charged with assault following incident in Launceston CBD

Police have charged four youths aged between 15 and 17 years of age with aggravated robbery following an incident in Wellington Street in Launceston early this morning.

It is alleged that at around 3.20am a group of youths have assaulted a 52-year-old man and stolen his personal effects.

The youths were arrested a short time later and have been charged and bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court, Youth Justice Division at a later date.

The man was taken to the Launceston General Hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
